Town of Wallkill, NY: New York Blood Center (NYBC) will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, May 26th from 11:00am to 5:00pm at the JC Penny Court on the first floor of the Galleria at Crystal Run. The blood drive will be the 160th blood drive that the Galleria at Crystal Run has hosted with NYBC, reinforcing the shopping center’s continued dedication to supporting the region’s blood supply.
Galleria at Crystal Run and NYBC have been long-time partners since 2001, collecting more than 5,500 donations and impacting the lives of thousands of New Yorkers in need. The 25-year collaboration continues to bring the community together to help ensure a steady and reliable blood supply in the local region. Each blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
This blood drive comes at an especially important time as New York hospitals prepare for the start of “trauma season,” a period marked by increased accidents and emergency surgeries due to increased travel, outdoor recreation, boating incidents, and holiday activity, creating added strain on the blood supply. This year, spring blood donations have not rebounded as strongly as anticipated following a difficult winter season.
The beginning of “trauma season” also serves as the kickoff to NYBC’s broader “Be the Reason Summer Feels Brighter” initiative, a seasonal effort focused on maintaining a stable blood supply throughout the challenging summer months.
