Middletown, NY: New York Blood Center (NYBC), one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world, will host a blood drive on Friday, January 20 at Galleria at Crystal Run to help meet a need for blood donations in the region and throughout the country. The NYBC will be located on the lower level in front of JC Penney making it easier for shoppers to conveniently give the gift of life while shopping. Guests are encouraged to make an appointment online or by calling 800-933-2566.
- WHERE: Lower Level in front of JC Penney, 1 Galleria Drive, Middletown, NY 10941
- WHEN: Friday, January 20 from 11AM-5PM
- WHO: Blood Donors, Volunteers, and New York Blood Center Representatives
- WHY: It only takes one hour to donate, and a single donation can save multiple lives. Roughly one in seven hospital admissions require a blood transfusion. Those in need include cancer patients, accident, burn, or trauma victims, newborn babies and their mothers, transplant recipients, surgery patients, chronically transfused patients suffering from sickle cell disease or thalassemia, and many more.
New York Blood Center (NYBC) is celebrating National Blood Donor Month by entering all presenting donors into weekly drawings for a chance to win an Apple or Google watch. The promotion will be available from January 5th through January 31st as a way for NYBC to celebrate its generous blood donors.
“While the holidays are over, the spirit of giving must never stop. Maintaining a stable blood supply is critical to our local healthcare system and for the treatment of thousands of New Yorkers,” said Andrea Cefarelli, Senior Vice President at New York Blood Center. “We are encouraging all eligible New Yorkers and especially first-time blood donors to celebrate National Blood Donor Month by making an appointment to donate blood today. We’ll be giving away 12 prizes throughout the month of January, so make sure to enter for a chance to win!”
